Tears. I cried. This movie looks and feels beautiful!
It is going to take some time for me to fully unpack how this trailer makes me feel, but wow! And I can’t even imagine how much this means to others who see themselves represented in the Black Panther franchise. Black Panther is still one of my favorite MCU films and this trailer makes it seem like we are going to go right back into that same vibe in a way that honors the legacy of Chadwick Boseman. This trailer is powerful, emotional, beautiful, and spiritual.
In terms of story, it looks like the film is going to lean heavily on the Wakanda related stories from Avengers vs X-Men and Ta-Nehisi Coates’ run on Black Panther. It looks like we are getting a war between Wakanda and Atlantis, led by Namor the Submariner. It looks like we also may get some of what happened to Wakanda during the Blip without T’Challa or Shuri. It also looks like the Midnight Angels, Aneka and Ayo, will be a part of the story. The Atlanteans look awesome! There also seems to be some sort of third party involved as well, could that be Latveria and Doom?
Even though we are not ending Phase 4 with an Avengers movie, I think this movie will be an epic end to the Phase, setting up things for Phase 5 and 6.
